Overview

The MCP Server is the MCP server of Wren Engine powered by the MCP Python SDK. It is one of four main modules (ibis-server, wren-core, wren-core-py, mcp-server) that compose Wren Engine, providing the server-side implementation for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) interoperability. As part of the MCP ecosystem, the Wren Engine MCP Server enables MCP clients and AI agents to interact with enterprise data via the semantic engine, helping ensure data access with accuracy, context, and governance. It is designed to be embeddable into MCP client workflows and interoperable with modern data stacks, reflecting Wren Engine's goal to connect LLMs to tools, databases, and enterprise systems through a semantic layer. In the beta stage, this module collaborates with the other components to deliver a cohesive semantic platform that supports governance through roles, access controls, and business definitions across data interactions.
