Morningstar MCP Server exposes two core tools via MCP: the Morningstar Datapoint Tool and the Morningstar Articles Tool. The Datapoint Tool fetches latest values for a broad set of Morningstar datapoints—market capitalization, ratings, fair value ratio and estimate, last closing price, total return, economic moat, earnings per share (EPS), net asset value (NAV), fund size, sector, domicile, primary share, and more—for quick, simple datapoint lookups on securities such as stocks or funds. The Articles Tool provides answers on finance, investing, sustainable investing, investment strategies, portfolio design, and retirement, drawing on Morningstar's published research, analyses, methodologies, and thematic research. This content represents Morningstar’s opinion and research and is not intended to provide factual information about a stock or fund’s rating, price, fair value, or performance. Authentication requires contacting Morningstar for an Auth Token and dedicated endpoints. The repository is currently archived and ongoing development is performed outside this repo. These tools are designed to be consumed via MCP, enabling integration into analytics workflows and decision-making processes.
