Overview

The AI Connector for Revit integrates AI desktop applications (such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot) with Autodesk Revit, enabling the AI to inspect and interact with live Revit models. Rather than generating new Revit code, the AI relies on a set of 36 predefined micro-tools to inspect parameters, family sizes, sheets, views, and other model aspects, and to select elements based on feedback from the model. It supports a read-and-select workflow (Phase 1), focusing on model reading, inspection, and element selection. The toolset is designed to work with Nonicatab, with the AI Connector button appearing in the Nonicatab toolbar after installation, allowing users to run the connector directly. The system provides feedback-driven interaction: the AI invokes your tools and adapts to Revit’s responses, reducing errors from handcrafted code. Examples of tools include get_parameters_from_elementid, extract_size_in_MB_of_families, and get_viewports_placed_on_sheets. Prerequisites include Autodesk Revit 2022–2026, Nonicatab, and Claude/Cursor/Copilot or any MCP-compatible desktop app. Installation steps involve obtaining the installer from the Autodesk App Store, installing Claude, launching Revit with a toolbar containing the AI Connector, and starting the connector to begin querying the model via AI tools.
