Overview

This MCP server provides tools for Anthropic's Claude to fetch recent and historical NBA games and statistics using the open-source nba_api. It enables the model to access game results and a range of basic and advanced statistics that Claude may not reliably retrieve on its own. The server supports retrieving final scores for games that occurred yesterday or earlier, a basic P/R/A breakdown for players who appeared in those games, and full per-player stat lines including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, plus-minus, and minutes. It also exposes four-factor statistics for games to support deeper analysis. The design focuses on delivering accurate, structured data to improve model responses in basketball-domain queries. Installation instructions describe creating a virtual environment and installing the package in editable mode, and configuration aligns with other MCP servers so it can be wired into Claude's environment.
