Overview
Crypto Fear & Greed Index MCP Server exposes resources and tools to fetch and analyze the Fear & Greed Index from Alternative.me, enabling easy integration into MCP-compatible clients such as Claude Desktop. The server offers a current index resource to retrieve the latest value and its classification (Fear or Greed), a history resource to fetch historical index values for a specified number of days, and a trend analysis tool that computes summary statistics like average value and trend direction over a specified window. It includes tool-specific versions of all resources to support tool-only MCP clients, and a prompt generation feature that provides a ready-to-use template for interpreting index values in client conversations. The project is built with the MCP Python SDK and sources its data from the Alternative.me Fear & Greed Index API. Installation and integration guidance is provided via Smithery for Claude Desktop, alongside standard MCP client configuration instructions for other environments.
