Overview

Apple Books MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that exposes a structured set of tools to interact with your Apple Books library through Claude. It enables programmatic access to your library data, including collections, books, and annotations, so you can list collections, inspect books, and retrieve annotations for a given book or the entire library. Highlights and notes can be retrieved, categorized by color, searched by text, and cross-referenced to support comprehension across multiple titles. The included at-a-glance capabilities illustrate typical workflows: Claude can summarize recent highlights, organize books by genre, recommend similar titles based on your reading history, and compare notes from different books on the same subject. Provided endpoints include list_collections, get_collection_books, describe_collection, list_all_books, get_book_annotations, describe_book, list_all_annotations, get_highlights_by_color, search_highlighted_text, search_notes, full_text_search, recent_annotations, and describe_annotation. The server can be run via uv (via uvx) or installed with pip and configured for Claude Desktop or Python usage. It is open-source under the Apache 2.0 license.
